Hi friends, I want to take the time and show my gratitude toward one the best characters to have ever been created; Kit Cloudkicker.
When TaleSpin first came on television, I was going through some very personal issues. The future seemed dark and nothing was making me happy. Then one day I watched an episode of TS, and noticed a young character who was wise beyond his years, friendly and positive, and could laugh in the face of fear. He was Kit.
Kit also loved his extreme sport, cloud-surfing. I had just taken up snowboarding (hence my name here) and Kit became a symbol of bravery, who made me try harder under any challenge. I even painted him on my snowboard!
He really brought me out of my funk, and has been an important figure ever since. To give tribute, I even have a Kit tattoo on my arm to remind me that no matter how small or big, I can face my fears.
Kit really is my hero.

I could not agree more with what your saying here. when I was growing Up Kit was always my role model . and he showed me that no matter what you never Give up you keep trying and try till it work out right. Kit and Baloo Both were so real to me they felt as family to me Even if just being a cartoon. I had no brothers. and only a half sister. so I felt like Kit was that shorts missing link and I always felt how he felt. In certain Times. In resent years I as you know created my self in the Talespin world as Kits adopted Cousin. and still to This day he reminds me that no matter how hard things are you don't let it get to you. you keep going. Like your self you'll find that Kit is the personal hero of alot of us here and he will remain so. The one and only Cloudkickeing ace of the Skies Kit CloudKicker. Thank you for the wonderful post, and sharing what Kit meant to you as well. Long Live Our Hero. Sincerely Kit Lee Christopher :0)

Interesting and poetic way to put it, Static. Would that make Baloo water? He seems to "go with the flow".

And who is other three elements in TaleSpin? If Baloo isn't air element I don't know.

Kit Cloudkicker is an animated profile in courage. I've commented in previous entries elsewhere about how he had endured hardships at such an early age which would have made a forty-year-old man like myself throw his hands up in despair. He's been all alone in the world, a survivor of homelessness and has led an unbelievable life before ever setting foot inside a junior high school classroom. After enduring a life amongst the criminal element that really is the Air Pirate gang under Don Karnage, the wonderful thing about Kit is that he's very sensitive, kind and loving. I've called him "the bravest bear of all", and considering what Kit's been through...I think the moniker fits him to a tee. I seem to recall Jymn Magon expressing surprise at how the fandom for TaleSpin has remained strong after all these years. I seem to remember expressing similar surprise when I came on the scene four years ago...but maybe it shouldn't be a surprise after all. TaleSpin was a fun and daring cartoon show. Kit Cloudkicker was a character with a lot to offer. As far as I'm concerned, he still has more tales to spin! It's wonderful to see that there are people in the entertainment industry who create things like this cartoon that can uplift as well as amuse. I believe that like any other tool, the animation medium can be as enlightening as other art forms. The organization which brought Kit Cloudkicker and his TaleSpinning adventures to us should be very proud of the positive difference they apparently make in the lives of others. Disney offers art which entertains and inspires others in the way that only they could do. I guess I've said a lot...I hope it was adequate...about how I basically feel just like you do, Snowkicker, about this Jungle Ace we all embrace here. If there's any shred of logic in expressing love for a cartoon character...I love Kit a lot. In the end, though, you deserve all the credit for making a positive difference in your life. I believe anyone else would say the same thing. If Mr. Magon was here he'd probably show gratitude for how good we feel about a cartoon character and the courage we find in him. In the end, however, we take the initiative in making our own lives better. I guess a little bit of that Cloudkicker spirit lives inside us all, doesn't it? ;D

Kit is the symbol of survivalism, the never-say-die attitude that lives in many of us. He never gives up, no matter what, and that's why I love him!

Hello buds I think that Kit is really great and important character. He is very cute bearcub, but sometimes he acts as adult - and sometimes he much more smart than Baloo, for example. And for me, Kit is the first character I started to draw; He is my navigator in the world of art and animation

Awesome, awesome, awesome!
Tom, thanks. You are 110% correct. While Kit was an excellent symbol and example for me, you are right that it took me to get out of that dark time. But that's why we have heros, isn't it? A symbol of the things we aspire to be and of hope. Kit is such a deep character that I can't imagine any other character that could match him. The team that put together TaleSpin hit a bull's eye with Kit's developement. Also, it's good to know I'm not the only middle-ager here! Always a kid at heart, though!
And toon love is very understandable. I've loved toons more than I've cared about most people since I was very young. They can seem as real as any person, and the best ones should make us feel that way. I'm happy that there are others who understand this because it's hard to explain to most folks. Then again, many many people love celebrities (actors, musicians) who are also in a way fictitious, at least their personas or characters and not the real person.
Kit4ever, yes, he's a great inspiration and you said it right; his strengths are what I try for everyday. I'm a very shy and apprehensive person (it's been a curse my whole life), so Kit's never-say-die attitude reminds me to try my best at anything.
I think Derter's avatar/picture is a potent image of Kit's whole being. Dark, light, determined, maybe a little angry. He seems to still carry the shadow of his past, while looking towards a brigher future. Maybe I'm looking too much into it, but that's the impression I get from the piece. You've nailed it, Derter! I know Kit is also still a cub, but as we all seem to agree, he's more experienced than most of the adult characters. I think it's wonderful to see that Kit is open to showing his feelings, more than just a happy and cute youngster. And smarter than Baloo? That's not much of a challenge! Just joking! I love that big old bear, too.

Kit to us all showed bravery in the face of danger so many times in his life espely in Plunder & Lighting. to all my friends that posted on this post you all are 110% agreed, your all correct, and no matter what Kit will remain if I can barrow a line form Tom, Kit is the bravest bear cub In the world. and I can honestly say I really do feel kit being real, and to me as my self character Jeffery like I told Tom, Kit is more then just Jeffery's adopted cousin. He like a brother. Thats a connection I'll will always keep close to me, and much like derter Kit was my first Character I every drew, espely he was my first free hand drawing. Kit May have a dark past clouded in mystery, but he remains one of the most loving, caring, brave, and Kind hearted, Enduring Characters I'll every know. and he always will. Long Live Kit Cloudkicker "The ace of the Skies" Nicely said snow! ;D Sincerely Your Friend Kit Lee Christopher. :0)

Thanks, Kit Lee! It's so cool that we are somewhat strangers united because of a cartoon character. Personally, character design is my strongest form of self-expression, and this thread is a testament to the idea that cartoon characters are a very important and potent way for people to see themselves. That we all care so much for an imagined being is really impressive. I've always felt strongly towards toons, and this topic affirms my beliefs. People still vote for Mickey Mouse as President of the US during every election! Maybe it's a joke, but it still says that people feel very fondly towards cartoon charaters.
I think Kit will live forever because of people like us. We will always remember him!

Snow, I could not agree more my self on that, and oh yes 110% agreed I as well have always loved cartoons, Disney the best, as well as others, But with Kit and Disney. much like your self and all of us we have some one that we look up to, and I feel that in a way Kit is real to us hes alive in hearts and or memories of him. Yes I'm pretty sure that there are as well that Vote for Mickey. or even Walt though Walt's been gone for years, but his spirit like with Kits still lives on in all of us the fans. Wither it be trough Drawing, writing, Costuming or Even music and working for Disney. those memories we have not only of Walt and Disney But Kit Cloudkicker, and Talespin will always live on. Like I mentioned to my friend Derter yesterday. any way at all to keep Kit memories alive is just cool, with all forms of art, and sharing memories. its an expression of the soul, and heart. I as all of us could really see that Kit would really admire that. In Kits own words, Whaooooo. Snow you really made a nice topic here, and one that brought out the feelings we all have for Kit as a friend, being his fans, and some of us feeing Kit is like a brother. In my 27 years theres one charatcter that defines my likes and who I am, and His name is Kit Cloudkicker Future ace of the skies. Sincerely Your Friend Kit Lee Christopher. :0)

Hey there, Jungle Aces!
For several weeks now, I’ve tried to concoct a logical reason behind going to bat for a cartoon series that seemingly has been overlooked and dismissed for twenty years now. I’m abandoning that direction in favor of simply giving it to you from my heart.
I’ve gone on since I first became aware of the TaleSpin fandom five years ago about the show in general and about one component especially, a component which has gone to my heart and somehow made a difference the way few things of its kind can, a cartoon which has gone to my heart and soul with something that not many series have…a heart and a soul. A vital component to this series had grabbed a hold of me when I first started watching it back in 1991 and has not let me go to this day. Something about it has stayed with me all these years and I’m at the age where, if I’d care about a cartoon at all…it wouldn’t be this one. Why?
We’ve gone back-and-forth like a tennis match about how we’d like to see a third volume of TaleSpin come out on DVD and come full-circle with the original series. Should they bring the series back and make new episodes and add continuity to the development of the characters? That’d be nice, although I must admit, it’d also be unlikely. Some have stated that many of the fans who thought TaleSpin was a good show then don’t seem to care now. They’ve moved on, and I’m still here boosting a twenty-year-old cartoon in the same fanatical way I, a forty-something man, should be doing for the Philadelphia Phillies. Why on earth am I doing this?
Maybe, I need to see a psychiatrist?
Maybe, a reason would be that I see something in this series like I haven’t seen much of before or since on television. Maybe, there’s a special component, even one component, that got my attention and made me look at a contemporary (for 1991) cartoon and made me change my outlook, not just on television cartoons, but on my personal consciousness as well. To me, and probably to you as well, that one vital component takes the form of a big, little, wonderful something that can be summed up in three letters…K-I-T.
Something about this character made an impact on us…at least at one time in our lives, this character made an impact on us…in a way that no other character, animated or live-action, ever could. He is a character who has seen the soft, white, underbelly of life at a time of extremely tough economic conditions. He’s known hunger, homelessness…and hopelessness. With the care and support of a cargo pilot, his life turned around from seeming like a dead-end street, to where the open skies are his personal playground. He is a sky-surfing wunderkind whose antics with a metallic board have made many people look up in wonder and even some of them have panic attacks! A character like this has offered so much in the past and he’s got a lot more to him besides.
At this point, I’m not entirely concerned about whether to bring back TaleSpin in any form. Now, I realize that might go against the grain to some. My primary concern is this character…this one vital component…Kit Cloudkicker. What he’s done before and what he can do in the future can get the attention of new fans for Disney, if they only wish him to. Kit is my primary concern…bordering on becoming my exclusive concern. There’s a lot a character like this can still teach us about reaching for a star and hitching a tow-rope to it…and just fly, boy, fly!
There’s so much he can teach us in the realm of social responsibility and making a difference in our own lives, and in the lives of others. Take another look at those old TaleSpin cartoons and just follow Kit and what he says and does to help someone else. From helping a seemingly hopeless cause like Oscar Vandersnoot join the Jungle Aces…to helping his Papa Bear come to terms with himself and just who he is in the eyes of this brave little bear cub.
In my mind’s eyes and heart…it’s all about K-I-T, Kit Cloudkicker. Whatever else happens in Disney’s Corporate Realm, my hope remains that one board member will ask: Ladies and Gentlemen, may I propose a new project with this character, Kit…um…whatshisname again…oh, yes…Cloudkicker! May I propose this new idea for this character? It’d go something like this…”
With eyes on the skies, and heart on the future,
Tom Cloudkicker

I agree, Tom. Kit really is the most responsible character in the series. Personally I can't imagine him in the series without Baloo and Rebecca. But remembering Baloo's origin and fate of Launchpad McQuack, I think that Kit can be main hero of new series. Hope it will not like in cause with "Quack pack" when the attempt to modernize characters was failed.
