Well I'd like to see that too, but I'm not hopeful. Unless things have completely turned around Disney was planning to shut down their 2D animation about 3 years back (not to suggest it wasn't headed that way any-who with the subcontracted animation studios doing cheap quality work for [glow=red,2,300]The Mouse People[/glow]). But there always could be a possibility. After all, how many years did we hope for TaleSpin to come out on DVD, and it has!

But there always could be a possibility. After all, how many years did we hope for TaleSpin to come out on DVD, and it has! Very true, plus since the mid-1990's, cable (ToonDisney. in particular) has become more popular and more of a focus, so there's less of a need for a two-to-three-hour "Disney Afternoon" for "regular" networks. Also, the existence of the DA had to do with buying airtime for commercials, not artistic excellence. And different shows seem to pull more commercial airtime than a "Disney Afternoon". I doubt that, with the absence of a Jymn Magon, Tad Stones or Jeffrey Katzenberg in the Disney ranks, I doubt a show of the quality of "TaleSpin" or "Chip 'N' Dale's Rescue Rangers" would exist today. Even if so (maybe "Kim Possible", "Buzz Lightyear Of Star Command" and "Fillmore!" would be contenders), I'm sure that ToonDisney would be top priority. Perhaps PIXAR can develop something, but the time, effort and money it takes for them to develop their much larger-grossing and aristically more satisfactory feature films it makes leaves little reason for them to also create a show or two. Even so, would the shows get both ratings and generate commercial dollars? How, commercially speaking at least, would they fare over "Hannah Montana" or "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody"?!? Lovely idea, though, but I don't know if it's likely. Then again. who knows?!?

I'm with you Schroeder. Toon Disney seems to have eclipsed the regular Disney Channel, but even then, the schlock they put on now (I mean - Japanese Pokemon, and other Anime? Disney?) is just ... I feel like I'm watching junk. My feeling is enjoy what we have on DVD. The golden age of afternoon and Saturday morning cartoons are just dead.

we need a true vault disney that would show the true original disney afternoon cartoons and shows and movies like tron oh i love that awesome movie it beats out camp rock anyday and that isnt actually pokemon it is digimon and something called chaotic it is also on 4 kids tv and it is not all that good the good real pokemon dp battle dimension is on cartoon network and it is better than ever it is on saturdays in the morning but i do miss the true originals one day they shall make a comeback and truly rule again and i do hope someone who is serious about animation would buy the talespin franchise from jymn magon and make a true good follow up to the series by real animators not the cheesy peezy ones that make phineas and ferb man i seen better graphics on code monkeys on g4tv when i had the free preview for one month.

I don't want to see any sequels made unless they can match or exceed the original. Without the original production team and missing a lot of the key voice talent I'd say the chances of that happening are pretty much nil. With that said, I think if anyone can bring back traditional 2D animation, Pixar will be the one to do it, and do it right. Staticbear, I agree with you too. It's almost like they need a "classic" Disney channel to show all of their wonderful old stuff that never gets airplay these days.

I liked John Goodman giving his version of Baloo, but I think there's a majority of people who thought Goodman's work didn't compare well to the work of Ed Gilbert or Phil Harris.
I have a question...Do you think Michael Clarke Duncan (Tug in Brother Bear, also starred with Tom Hanks in the Green Mile) would make a very effective voice for Baloo?
